US Launches Fourth Wave of Strikes on Iran

The US military carried out another wave of strikes against Iran on Sunday, targeting dozens of sites in several locations with precision munitions, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said.

According to CENTCOM, the operation was intended to further weaken Tehran’s ability to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The targets included Iranian air defense systems, coastal radar stations, missile and drone capabilities and smaller vessels.

The strikes involved fighter jets, warships, attack drones and unmanned maritime vehicles.

Iranian media reported explosions at several locations in Hormozgan Province, including the island of Qeshm, the port city of Bandar Abbas and the towns of Sirik and Jask.

The operation marked the fourth wave of US strikes since 8 July, when President Donald Trump announced the end of the ceasefire with Iran at the NATO summit in Ankara. He ordered the subsequent attacks after Iran struck the cargo ship M/V GFS Galaxy in the Strait of Hormuz.

Tehran condemned the latest strikes, saying they had undermined diplomatic efforts in recent months. Iran also accused the United States of destabilizing the Strait of Hormuz and disrupting international shipping.
