Jurassic Park Star Sam Neill Dies at 78
New Zealand actor Sam Neill has died at the age of 78. His family announced that he passed away on Monday in Sydney after previously undergoing treatment for blood cancer.
In a statement posted on Neill's Instagram account, his family said his death was sudden and unexpected. He died at a private hospital in Sydney, and they thanked the medical staff for their care.
Neill, best known for playing Dr. Alan Grant in Jurassic Park, announced in April that he was in remission following treatment for stage 3 blood cancer.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese paid tribute to the actor on social media, praising the dignity with which he faced his illness. He said Neill met the challenge with humor, composure and conviction – qualities that also defined his performances on screen. Albanese added that Neill would be deeply missed and long remembered.
