Britain Sanctions Russian Cyber Network over Hybrid Operations
Britain announced a new package of sanctions on Monday targeting Russian cyber networks that London says are responsible for attempts to sow chaos and deepen divisions across Europe.
The measures target 24 individuals and entities involved in destructive cyber and hybrid operations, including cybercriminals operating through intermediary networks linked to Russian intelligence services.
The sanctions also target three officers from Russia's military intelligence agency, the GRU: Vyacheslav Stafeyev, Ivan Senin and Ivan Kasianenko. The British government accuses them of directing the agency's cyber and hybrid operations.
The Russian Embassy in London did not immediately respond to the announcement.
Britain introduced the sanctions in coordination with the European Union.
