Latvia: Russia Attempted NATO Sabotage
According to Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics, information from NATO member states indicates that Russia has repeatedly attempted acts of sabotage aimed at undermining the security of allied countries. He made the remarks following a meeting with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda.
Rinkevics cited information from Lithuania, Latvia and other NATO member states and their security agencies. He did not specify which countries the alleged sabotage attempts were targeting.
Nauseda had previously stated in an interview that Lithuania's intelligence services have information indicating that Russia is planning attacks on infrastructure. He was unable to specify the time, location or even the country that Moscow intends to strike. Nevertheless, he announced that Lithuania would take preemptive measures to tighten security at energy and transportation facilities.
