Zaporizhzhia Plant Engineer Killed in Drone Strike
The chief engineer of the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was killed in a Ukrainian drone strike near the facility, the head of Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom said on Wednesday.
Alexei Likhachev said a Ukrainian drone struck a service vehicle between the plant and the city of Enerhodar. According to him, both the chief engineer, Alexander Yakovlev, and the vehicle's driver were killed.
Last week, the Kremlin accused Ukraine of escalating what it described as “terrorist” attacks against the nuclear power plant, which Russia has occupied since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
