Fedorov Expected to Leave Ukraine Defense Post
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to nominate Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko as Ukraine's next defense minister, according to several lawmakers from the ruling party. Parliament is due to vote on the cabinet reshuffle on Thursday.
It is not yet clear whether current Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov will remain in the government. Earlier on Wednesday, however, he appeared to reflect on his tenure, announcing that Ukraine had successfully tested a ballistic missile developed under the Defense Ministry's leadership.
“Symbolically, on the day the government was dismissed, we successfully tested a ballistic missile developed under the Ministry of Defense,” Fedorov wrote on Telegram.
He said that, after revising the technical specifications, the ministry had achieved maximum accuracy while reducing production costs by 30%.
“Ukraine is entering a new league.”
