Ukrainian Night Attacks Cause Casualties Across Russia

At least three Russian regions reported casualties after another wave of overnight Ukrainian drone and missile attacks, as Kyiv continued its campaign against Russia's energy infrastructure.

In the Yaroslavl region, about 250 km east of Moscow, one man was killed and four others were injured. Governor Mikhail Yevrayev said air defenses shot down 19 drones over the region but did not specify their intended targets.

Authorities in the Saratov region on the Volga River also reported casualties after a drone strike on the city of Engels, home to a military airbase that has repeatedly been targeted by Ukraine.

In the Bryansk region, near the Ukrainian border, a 15-year-old girl and her grandmother were killed in a missile strike on the village of Suzemka. Another person was injured.

In recent weeks, Ukrainian drone attacks on oil refineries and other energy facilities have contributed to fuel shortages in parts of Russia. Kyiv says the campaign is intended to reduce the oil revenues Moscow uses to finance the war.

Ukrainian officials also reported that Russian ballistic missiles struck at least two districts of Kyiv on Thursday morning. The attacks sparked fires and killed two people.
