Vance Accuses Israeli Faction of Swaying US on Iran

US Vice President JD Vance said that some members of the Israeli government had tried to influence American public opinion in an effort to get the United States to reject the agreement ending the war with Iran. He made the remarks on Joe Rogan's podcast.

Vance defended the agreement, reached last month, that ended the war with Iran. Critics in both the United States and Israel argue that it fails to address Iran's missile program, offers no clear plan for dismantling its nuclear facilities, and restricts Israel's ability to fight the Hezbollah movement in Lebanon.

The vice president said some Israeli officials had tried to dissuade the United States from this policy because they wanted the military campaign to continue. He added that he has good relations with several Israeli officials, but said he believes certain individuals are trying to sway American public opinion in order to keep the war going.

Vance noted that both allies and adversaries of the United States regularly try to influence American policy. He said, however, that it becomes a problem when such campaigns shape the decision-making of American politicians.

Asked whether the United States would have become involved in the recent war with Iran without Israeli influence, he answered that it would have. He emphasized, at the same time, that President Donald Trump remains convinced that Iran must not acquire a nuclear weapon.
