Amnesty Withdraws Report on Anti-Trans Movement

Just two days after publication, Amnesty International withdrew its report, A Growing Threat: the anti-rights movement in the United Kingdom, which identified several organizations critical of gender ideology as part of the anti-trans movement.

The inclusion of Beira's Place, a women's shelter founded by author JK Rowling, sparked the most backlash. The shelter's lawyers accused Amnesty of defamation and threatened legal action.

The organization subsequently expressed regret over the way the list was compiled and is now facing calls for its leadership to resign, as well as an investigation by the UK Charity Commission.

The report also criticized a decision by the UK Supreme Court, which ruled that the term "sex" in the Equality Act refers to biological sex.
