Germany Tightens Security as Threat of Attacks Grows
Germany is raising its security stance to "high threat level" after security agencies recorded a growing number of intelligence reports regarding possible attacks.
Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt said the country must be prepared for the risk of terrorist or other violent attacks at virtually any time.
According to him, there are clear plans targeting German infrastructure, institutions and individuals. The ministry has not yet provided further details on the reasons for tightening security measures.
The decision came after a series of serious attacks in recent years. Among the most significant were the attack on the Christmas market in Magdeburg in 2024, in which six people were killed, and the Islamic State-inspired knife attack in Solingen, which claimed three lives.
