Russia and UAE Call for End to Fighting in Persian Gulf

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke by phone with his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, about developments in the security situation in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Russian news agency RIA, both ministers agreed on the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the region.

The conversation took place against the backdrop of heightened tensions in the Middle East, with the Strait of Hormuz being one of the world's most important maritime routes for the transport of oil and natural gas.
