Tesla Plans Major Expansion near Berlin

According to the DPA news agency, American automaker Tesla plans to significantly increase production in fiscal year 2026 at its only European manufacturing plant in Grünheide, Germany, near Berlin. This is according to the 2025 annual report of Tesla Manufacturing Brandenburg.

The factory currently supplies more than 30 markets. The automaker's goal is to reach an annual production level of approximately 375,000 cars while expanding its in-house battery cell production, thereby integrating the entire value chain within the plant. As part of this expansion, Tesla plans to create 3,500 new jobs.

The German division reported a net profit of €77.1m ($88.1m) for 2025, representing an increase of roughly €20m ($22.9m) from the previous year. However, the plant's total revenue fell from €7.7bn ($8.8bn) in 2024 to €7.1bn ($8.1bn) in 2025.

Vehicle production itself also saw a slight decline, falling from 211,000 units to approximately 202,000 units. Tesla management attributed the decline primarily to processes related to model changes and the introduction of new product variants, while describing overall production as stable.

The Grünheide plant has been in operation since March 2022. It specializes in the production of the Model Y and, at the end of 2025, employed approximately 11,000 people, including temporary workers.
