The film adaptation of The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan, grossed $264.1m in worldwide box office sales, including $124.5m in the US and Canada, Universal Pictures announced on Sunday.

In the film, which is based on Homer's ancient Greek epic, Matt Damon plays the Greek hero Odysseus and follows his perilous journey home after the Trojan War. This is Nolan's first film since the 2023 blockbuster Oppenheimer, which won Oscars in several categories, including best director and best picture.

The production budget for the latest film reached $250m. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a 97% audience score. The film marks Nolan's most successful global opening of all time, adjusted for inflation, and his third-most successful film in the US and Canada.
