Trump Says Netanyahu Will Not Be Arrested in US

US President Donald Trump said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would not be arrested under any circumstances during his visit to the United States.

The statement came after New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said the city's legal department was reviewing what action the law would allow it to take.

In an interview, Mamdani said Netanyahu should stand trial in The Hague because the International Criminal Court (ICC) had issued a warrant for his arrest over alleged crimes committed during the war in the Gaza Strip.

Israel does not recognize the court's jurisdiction and denies committing war crimes. In a post on social media, Trump did not mention Mamdani by name but reaffirmed his support for Israel and credited it with helping during the war against Iran.

Netanyahu traditionally visits New York in September to attend the UN General Assembly.
