Trump Hardens Stance on Iran, Threatens Civilian Infrastructure

US President Donald Trump has stepped up his rhetoric against Iran, declaring that for every attack by Tehran on ships in the Strait of Hormuz, the United States will destroy one Iranian bridge or power plant.

In a statement on the social media platform Truth Social, he wrote that it does not matter whether Iran uses missiles, drones or other weapons. Tensions between Washington and Tehran are rising again after the temporary ceasefire agreed last month collapsed.

According to available information, the struggle for control of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz is increasing the risk of a return to large-scale armed conflict.

Trump's remarks have also drawn criticism from parts of the international community. Several experts in international law, as well as world leaders, have pointed out that threats to attack civilian infrastructure, such as bridges or power plants, may violate the rules of international humanitarian law.
