Le Pen Accuses Magyar of Trampling on Democracy

Marine Le Pen, leader of France's National Rally, has accused the new Hungarian government led by Prime Minister Peter Magyar of undermining the rule of law and democratic principles, according to the European Conservative.

She was responding to the prosecutor's office's action against the opposition party Fidesz, in which, according to available information, investigators seized the party's servers and communication systems without prior notice.

In a statement on the social media platform X, Le Pen said that democracy belongs to everyone and that, in her view, its rules are being violated in Hungary "with the blessing" of the European Commission, which she claims is protecting Peter Magyar's government.

Fidesz MEP Kinga Gal, co-chair of the Patriots for Europe faction, echoed her remarks, describing the prosecutor's office's actions as unprecedented since the fall of communism.

She claims that, after failing in the political arena, the government is using legal tools to weaken the largest opposition party.
