Wallace: Israel Refused to Help Ukraine to Appease Russia
Former British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace claims that the Israeli government refused to provide aid to Ukraine following the Russian invasion because it did not want to jeopardize relations with Moscow. According to Wallace, this policy has since backfired on Israel itself.
Wallace wrote on the social media platform X that he had urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government to support Kyiv, but Israel refused. He wrote: "I urged Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to help Ukraine. Israel declined, saying it did not want to upset Russia. As a result, Russia continued to spend more than $1 billion on Iranian drones. Now ordinary Israelis are having to deal with the consequences of Netanyahu’s decisions."
His account was corroborated by John Foreman, a former British defense attaché in Moscow and Kyiv, who said he had made the same point to the Israeli ambassador in Moscow at a time when Iranian agents were plotting to kill members of his staff.
Foreman also claims that suicide drones operated by Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group, have become the leading cause of death among Israeli soldiers in Lebanon. Israeli officials have acknowledged that these unmanned aerial vehicles pose a serious security challenge to ground forces.
