Israel Kills Head of Hamas-Run Police Force in Airstrike

Abdel-Nasser Al-Maqadma, the commander of the Hamas-run police force, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the northern part of the Gaza Strip. According to the Hamas-run interior ministry and local medical personnel, he was killed in the Sheikh Radwan area north of Gaza City.

In other Israeli attacks, a Palestinian medic in the Nuseirat refugee camp was also killed, as was a police officer who had been injured in a previous bombing.

The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the incidents. Israel has long claimed that several members of the Hamas-controlled police force are also members of the movement's armed wing and pose a security threat. Hamas, on the other hand, accuses Israel of attempting to undermine the civilian administration of the Gaza Strip.

Despite the ceasefire agreed upon last October, Israeli attacks continue on an almost daily basis, while international mediators work to achieve a more lasting end to the conflict.
