Iran Suspends Attacks After US Strikes Stop

Iran announced on Sunday that it had suspended retaliatory attacks against US allies in the Middle East after Washington, according to Tehran, did not continue its attacks on Iranian targets for the second night in a row.

Iranian military spokesman Mohammad Akraminia said the US attacks had ceased two nights earlier and that Iran had subsequently halted its retaliatory operations as well. He added, however, that if the United States resumes the bombing, the conflict will escalate again.

After nearly two weeks of nightly attacks, hopes have emerged for a return to negotiations. US media, meanwhile, reported that the suspension of operations may also be linked to concerns about a shortage of missiles for the Patriot air defense systems and other ammunition.

The US and Iran have also submitted their responses to the Pakistani-Qatari proposal to resume negotiations, the Al-Arabiya website noted, citing sources familiar with the talks.

According to CNN, US operations against Iran are currently suspended. The New York Times reported that plans for further escalation have been postponed, in part due to dwindling ammunition supplies. President Donald Trump, however, warned on Friday that the United States is prepared to resume attacks on a significantly larger scale.
