Ukraine Targets Russian Refineries and Oil Export Facilities

Ukraine has intensified its campaign against Russian energy infrastructure in recent months in an effort to reduce a key source of funding for Moscow's war effort. Refineries, gas processing facilities, oil storage depots, fuel terminals and export infrastructure across Russia have all been targeted.

Among the latest attacks were strikes on oil facilities in Yaroslavl, northeast of Moscow, and a refinery in Tyumen in western Siberia, where a fire broke out. Ukrainian drones also targeted the petrochemical complex in Salavat, Bashkortostan, as well as refineries in Afipsky, Syzran, Saratov, Ilsky, Omsk, NORSI, Slavyansk, Ufa, TANECO, Kuibyshev and Tuapse. Following the attacks, several facilities suspended oil processing or reduced production.

Other parts of Russia's energy sector have also come under attack. Ukraine reported strikes on a gas processing plant in the Orenburg region, oil storage facilities in the Tver and Stavropol regions, fuel infrastructure in Bashkortostan and along the route of the Blue Stream gas pipeline to Turkey, as well as the Filanovsky offshore platform in the Caspian Sea.

The attacks also damaged the ports of Vysotsk, Ust-Luga and Novorossiysk on the Black Sea. Meanwhile, the Caspian Pipeline Consortium temporarily suspended oil intake after attacks on oil tankers disrupted loading operations at its Black Sea export terminal.
