Uganda Declares End to Ebola Outbreak

Uganda has officially declared the country's latest Ebola outbreak over, Health Minister Chris Baryomunsi announced on Tuesday. The outbreak, confirmed in mid-May, resulted in 20 infections and two deaths.

Fifteen of the confirmed cases were linked to neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo, where a separate Ebola outbreak has been the region's main source of infections.

Ugandan health authorities said intensive nationwide surveillance helped contain the outbreak, and no new cases have been reported since.
