Another 112 Bodies Recovered from Gaza Rubble

Rescue workers in the Gaza Strip found another 112 bodies and human remains under the rubble. The search in the Sabra neighborhood in southern Gaza City lasted 136 hours and, according to the civil defense agency operating under Hamas authority, was conducted mostly with bare hands.

Among the victims were 40 children, 38 women and seven people with disabilities. The operation, which lasted nearly two weeks, received support from the International Committee of the Red Cross. Thousands of families in the Gaza Strip have waited more than two and a half years for the chance to recover their loved ones' remains and bury them with dignity.

Rescue team commander Mohammed Abu Dan said that another 157 bodies remain buried under the rubble. The remains of thousands of people are still unaccounted for in the Gaza Strip, with many believed to be buried under the ruins of buildings destroyed by Israeli airstrikes.

The Hamas-run ministry of health has recorded more than 73,300 casualties since the start of the war. The United Nations considers these figures to be reliable. The war began after Hamas launched an attack on southern Israel on 7 October 2023, in which 1,221 people were killed and 251 hostages were taken to the Gaza Strip.
