Fauci Diaries Reveal Obama's Harsh Trump Comments
The diaries of Anthony Fauci, former director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, revealed a private phone call with former President Barack Obama in November 2021, during which he sharply criticized Donald Trump and his son, Donald Trump Jr.
According to Fauci's notes, Obama called him to offer support amid criticism of his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Fauci also mentioned to him the sale of T-shirts and hoodies bearing the slogan "Fauci Kills Puppies", which were being offered by Donald Trump Jr.
Obama responded by calling Donald Trump Jr. "a fucking moron". He later apologized for the vulgar language, but went on to describe Donald Trump as a "hopeless idiot" and a "pathologic liar".
According to Fauci, Obama also criticized moderate Republicans for failing to publicly defend him and for distancing themselves from the attacks against him.
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. discovered the memos from 2019 to 2022 on government servers and subsequently provided them to Republicans in the Senate. Their release reignited the debate over Fauci's role during the pandemic.
Following the release of the memos, Fauci testified before a Senate committee, where, when asked about the origin of the coronavirus, he invoked the Fifth Amendment to the US Constitution (the right against self-incrimination) 111 times.
