Danube Levels Stabilize near Paks Nuclear Plant

Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar said the outlook for the Danube's water level over the coming days has improved slightly. Water levels near the Paks Nuclear Power Plant and in Budapest have stabilized since Monday morning.

The Paks Nuclear Power Plant is currently operating at around 10% of its normal capacity. As recently as last week, officials expected the plant to shut down completely later this week because forecasts indicated the Danube's water level would continue to fall, threatening the supply of cooling water needed to operate the reactors.
