Finland Restricts Airspace After Drone Strike in Russia

A warehouse complex near St. Petersburg, Russia's second-largest city, was targeted in a drone attack on Tuesday.

Alexander Drozdenko, governor of the Leningrad region, reported the attack but did not identify the facility or provide details about the extent of the damage. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

Shortly afterward, neighboring Finland temporarily established a restricted airspace zone over the eastern Gulf of Finland, according to the Finnish armed forces. Helsinki did not provide further details about the reason for the measure.

Finland has been a member of NATO since 2023 and is also a member of the European Union. It has not been confirmed whether the temporary airspace restrictions were directly linked to the drone attack near St. Petersburg.
