Indian Ship Sinks After Strike in Red Sea

An Indian-flagged vessel capsized and sank in the Red Sea after being struck by a projectile off the coast of Yemen, but all 14 crew members were rescued, Indian Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said.

The Yemeni Coast Guard rescued 13 Indian nationals and one other crew member before taking them to the port of Mocha. India's Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that the MSV Faize Noore Oliya sank on 4 August off the Yemeni coast and said it was coordinating further action with Yemeni authorities.

Shipping in the Red Sea has been disrupted by attacks from the Tehran-aligned Houthi rebels off Yemen, who seek to blockade Saudi exports.
