Canada Flight Canceled over Child's Seatbelt Refusal

A bizarre incident involving a child caused the cancellation of a Porter Airlines flight from Victoria to Toronto, according to the daily newspaper Bild.

Flight 444 was scheduled to depart at 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, and the plane was already heading for the runway when the cabin crew noticed that a child was not buckled in. According to the airline, neither the child's guardian nor the flight attendants were able to convince the child to fasten the seatbelt.

For safety reasons, the crew decided to return to the terminal. The child and his guardian had to disembark, and their luggage was also unloaded from the plane.

The delay had a further consequence. Victoria Airport closes its runway at 12:30 a.m., so the plane could no longer take off, and Porter Airlines ultimately canceled the entire flight.

The remaining passengers were rebooked onto alternative flights and were able to continue to their destination the following day. The airline apologized to passengers for the inconvenience.
