Zuckerberg Yacht Missed Call to Assist Stranded Boat

The crew of Launchpad, the luxury yacht owned by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, failed to respond to a radio call for assistance from a small boat that had run out of fuel off the coast of Alaska. According to the Alaska Beacon, Zuckerberg’s yacht was closer to the stranded vessel than the cruise ship that ultimately came to its aid.

The account came from Michael Love, a passenger aboard the cruise ship Wilderness Legacy. Writing on Bluesky, Love said the cruise ship diverted to assist the 21-foot skiff, towing it into Farragut Bay and providing it with fuel. He said the cruise ship’s captain told passengers that Zuckerberg’s yacht had repeatedly failed to respond, prompting anger among those on board.

A spokesperson for Zuckerberg denied that the call had been deliberately ignored, saying the Launchpad crew did not initially hear the request for assistance. By the time they reviewed Coast Guard contact on a different radio channel from the one they had been using, the Wilderness Legacy was already providing assistance.

The spokesperson also stressed that the skiff was not in distress and that Zuckerberg and his family were not aboard the yacht at the time, adding that they were grateful everyone involved was safe.
