Drone Attack Leaves Novorossiysk Without Water

The Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiysk was left without a water supply after a Ukrainian drone attack overnight. Mayor Andrei Kravchenko declared a state of emergency and announced that damage assessments were underway. Several educational facilities were also hit.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the operation had targeted the Russian naval base in Novorossiysk, adding that Ukrainian forces used drones, missiles and unmanned boats.

Russia had moved part of its Black Sea Fleet to Novorossiysk after repeated Ukrainian attacks on ships in Crimea, which Moscow occupied and annexed in 2014.

The attack also struck port infrastructure, forcing the suspension of operations at two terminals used for grain exports.
