Tesla Strike in Sweden Ends after Nearly Three Years
The Swedish labor union IF Metall announced on Thursday that it will suspend its nearly three-year-long protest against Tesla as of 19 August. "The reason is that Tesla has bought out all of the union's striking members at the company. This means that the conflict no longer has any effect", it said in a statement.
The conflict, which began in October 2023 when a group of Tesla mechanics went on strike, became the longest strike in Swedish history and a flashpoint between Tesla CEO Elon Musk's anti-union stance and the Swedish model of collective bargaining.
Tesla has no manufacturing plants in the Nordic country, but its electric vehicles are serviced by IF Metall members.
