Trump Sued over Paid Priority Access to Posts

The nonprofit organizations The Intercept and the Freedom of the Press Foundation have filed a lawsuit against US President Donald Trump and his office over a new program on the Truth Social platform. For a monthly fee of $100,000, the program offers priority access to posts by the president and other members of his administration.

According to Politico, the plaintiffs describe the practice as unconstitutional and corrupt, arguing that it violates the First Amendment, which guarantees equal access to presidential statements for the entire press.

Since Trump's posts routinely influence markets and stock prices, critics warn that the arrangement could enable trading on insider information. Ten customers have signed up for the program so far.

Truth Social has denied the allegations and called the lawsuit an attempt by left-wing activists to censor the platform. Democrats in Congress have also responded, introducing a bill to ban the sale of priority access to the accounts of government officials.
