Lukashenko Says Belarusians Do Not Want to Fight

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said the country's leadership will do everything to preserve peace and that Belarus does not want to get involved in a war. He made the remarks on Saturday during the opening of the Zov Polesia festival, according to the Interfax news agency.

Lukashenko described Belarus as a "shared home" for its people and pointed to conflicts and tensions in neighboring countries.

He specifically cited religious and ethnic hostility, which, he said, is reaching alarming levels abroad. According to Lukashenko, despite the situation in the region, Belarus remains a peaceful country, a fact he attributed to its citizens themselves.

Lukashenko also asserted that peace can be maintained if people avoid embezzling, work hard and strengthen their country.

He emphasized that Belarus's stability is not solely the result of his decisions, but of the efforts of society as a whole.
