Melania Trump Helps Secure 34th Ukrainian Reunion

US First Lady Melania Trump has helped arrange the reunion of another Ukrainian child with her family, the 34th such homecoming she has helped facilitate, according to the New York Post.

In a statement, she emphasized the power of reuniting a mother with her child and confirmed that she and her team continue to help reunite families separated by the conflict. In addition to Ukrainian children taken to Russia, they are also helping Russian children who had been living in Ukraine and became separated from relatives after the war began.

Since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022, thousands of Ukrainian children have been taken to Russia, mainly from occupied areas in the east. The UN has confirmed the abduction of more than 1,200 children, while the Ukrainian government estimates the number could be as high as 20,000.

Last August, Mrs Trump sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin calling for the protection of children, which US President Donald Trump personally delivered during his meeting with Putin in Alaska. Putin subsequently confirmed that he maintains an open line of communication with the first lady.

Child protection has become a key focus of her work. In addition to her work on Ukraine, she has focused on foster children and adapting education to new technologies, including artificial intelligence.
