Russia Threatens Britain over Ukraine Drones

Russia has threatened Britain with consequences after reports that British-made drones supplied to Ukraine were used for the first time to strike targets deep inside Russian territory.

The Russian Embassy in London accused Britain of escalating its involvement in the war, warning that the more deeply it becomes involved, the “higher the price” it will pay. The warning followed a report by The Times that British-made long-range drones had been used for deep strikes inside Russia for the first time.

Ukraine has long used drones to strike Russian oil refineries, logistics hubs and other infrastructure far behind the front lines.

The British Ministry of Defence has not confirmed that UK-supplied drones were used in the attacks. A spokesperson reiterated, however, that Britain stands firmly behind Ukraine and remains committed to providing the equipment it needs to defend itself against Russia's invasion.

In June, Britain announced that it would provide Ukraine with 150,000 drones by the end of 2026 as part of a £752m ($1bn) military aid package that also includes air-defense missiles and radar systems.
