Massive Drone Attack Hits Moscow and Crimea
Ukraine launched a massive overnight drone attack on Russia and Russian-held Crimea early Tuesday, causing injuries, damaging logistics infrastructure and leaving parts of the peninsula without power.
More than 600 drones were reportedly involved in the wider attack. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said Russian air defenses had shot down around 180 drones approaching the capital.
At least three people, including a 10-year-old girl, were injured in the Moscow region, according to Governor Andrei Vorobyov.
Logistics infrastructure was also hit. A drone struck a warehouse belonging to Russian e-commerce giant Wildberries near Moscow, causing damage to the facility. Wildberries logistics centers have repeatedly been targeted by Ukrainian drones in recent weeks.
In Russian-held Crimea, drone attacks caused widespread power outages. Regional electricity provider Krymenergo said the strikes primarily affected southern districts, while power supplies remained disrupted in parts of the northwest, east and south of the peninsula.
Russia, meanwhile, carried out a deadly missile strike on the village of Pechenihy in Ukraine's Kharkiv region. Ten people were killed and 17 injured when missiles struck a busy area containing shops, a post office and a café. Ukrainian prosecutors said preliminary information indicated that Russia had used two Banderol cruise missiles.
