Trump Votes by Mail as He Pushes to Restrict Practice
ccording to media reports, US President Donald Trump voted by mail in the Republican primary in Florida, even though he has previously referred to this method of voting as “cheating”.
In response, White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales noted that Trump supports the option of voting by mail in cases of illness, disability, military service or travel. However, he believes that universal mail-in voting should not be allowed because it is “highly susceptible to fraud”.
Wales added that the president has a permanent residence in Palm Beach and votes in Florida, but spends most of his time living at the White House in Washington.
Politico reported on Trump’s mail-in voting, citing local election records. He voted the same way in Florida’s special election in March.
At the same time, the president is pushing for new election restrictions in Congress and seeking to limit mail-in voting. He has repeatedly claimed that this method of voting is more susceptible to fraud.
