Six Killed in Israeli Strike on Gaza Café
At least six Palestinians were killed and 14 injured on Tuesday in an Israeli airstrike on a small café inside the fishing harbor in western Gaza City, according to medical personnel.
The Israeli military said the strike targeted armed Hamas commanders who had planned attacks against its forces. The harbor has become a large camp for displaced Palestinian families during the war.
The strike came one day after Jared Kushner left Jerusalem following two days of talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, mediators and Hamas representatives over the implementation of Trump’s roadmap for Gaza. Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, failed to achieve a breakthrough.
Netanyahu insists that Israeli troops will not withdraw until Hamas is fully disarmed. Hamas, meanwhile, demands that Israel adhere to the ceasefire and withdraw its forces. The two sides remain divided primarily over the sequence in which the plan should be implemented.
Since the ceasefire was reached last October, more than 1,200 Palestinians and four Israeli soldiers have been killed in Gaza, according to Gazan health officials and the Israeli military.
