Israel Killed Sinwar's Former Bodyguard

The Israeli military announced that in two separate attacks in the southern Gaza Strip, it killed the former bodyguard of former Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and another member of the elite Nukhba unit. According to the army, both men were involved in the attack on Israel on 7 October 2023.

Hazem Musa was killed in Sunday's strike in Khan Younis. The military claims he infiltrated the Israeli military base at Re'im during the Hamas attack in October 2023.

On Monday, at the same location, Israeli forces killed Razek Sahil Suleiman Abu Shahma, also a member of the Nukhba unit, who participated in the attack on the Re'im base and had previously served as Sinwar's personal bodyguard.

The Israeli military justified its attacks during the ceasefire by stating that both men were planning attacks against soldiers and civilians and were attempting to rebuild Hamas's capabilities. According to the army, they were thereby violating the ceasefire agreement. The aim of the strikes was to "remove the threat".
