Kyrylo Budanov, an adviser to the Ukrainian president, expects technical negotiations on the war with Russia to begin in the near future. However, he does not anticipate a quick agreement.

"I think everyone will see the negotiations happening very soon. But this will mainly concern the technical side of things and preparations for something big, which I hope we will eventually get to", he said in an interview on the YouTube channel Moseichuk+.

Peace talks supported by the United States have not yet yielded concrete results. The last round of trilateral talks took place in February. Budanov also considers it unrealistic to expect the fighting to end before winter.

According to him, Ukraine and Russia must reach a point where they are ready to simultaneously take a step toward each other. According to Budanov, Kyiv is open to such an approach, but Moscow is not yet.

One of Russia's main demands remains the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the Donbas, which the Russian army has been unable to fully occupy. Kyiv refuses to relinquish the territory it continues to control.
