Russia Signals New Mass Strikes on Ukraine's Energy Grid
Moscow is signaling preparations for further large-scale attacks against Ukraine. The Russian ministry of defense announced on Sunday that the armed forces are preparing strikes targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure. According to the ministry, this is in retaliation for attacks against civilian infrastructure and the energy sector within Russia.
It is not yet known when the attacks might take place, which facilities might be targeted, or how extensive they will be. The statement, however, suggests that Ukraine's energy infrastructure may once again become a major target for Russian forces.
The Russian ministry of defense also reported that its army continued coordinated attacks against Ukrainian defense industry facilities overnight. The statement did not provide further details, including on any damage or casualties.
