Ferry with 267 Aboard Capsizes off Northern Cyprus

A passenger ferry carrying 267 people capsized off the coast of northern Cyprus on Sunday, killing at least one person.

Turkish Cypriot Transport Minister Erhan Arikli said 259 passengers and eight crew members were aboard the vessel, which had left Kyrenia for Tasucu in southern Turkey before it began taking on water.

Kyrenia Mayor Murat Senkul told CNN Turk that rescue teams had reached 159 passengers. Search-and-rescue operations are continuing.
