German Energy Prices Jump 10.5%

According to preliminary data from the German Federal Statistical Office, the inflation rate in Germany reached 2.9% year on year in August 2026. Compared with July, consumer prices rose by 0.2%.

Energy prices rose sharply, increasing by 10.5% year on year. Their growth thus accelerated further, reaching 8.3% in July and 3.4% in June.

Core inflation, which excludes food and energy prices, is expected to reach 2.4% in August.
