Pentagon Rolls Out ChatGPT and Grok
The US Department of Defense is officially rolling out two new artificial intelligence models, ChatGPT Mil from OpenAI and Grok for Government from Starshield AI. These tools will be available to more than three million civilian and military personnel via the secure, Pentagon operated GenAI.mil platform, which already hosts a modified version of Google Gemini.
As reported by TechRadar, the main goal of this expansion is to increase productivity and work efficiency without the risk of sensitive data leaks, since data processed on the platform remains isolated from public and commercial models.
While ChatGPT Mil will be used for routine administrative tasks and working with large documents or chats, Grok for Government from Starshield AI will support operational contexts. It will be used for market research analysis for procurement as well as management of the military supply chain.
The GenAI.mil platform has already been used by more than 1.7 million employees, and the integration of the new generative models is expected to increase this number further.
