Trump Pleased by Harry and Meghan’s Return to Britain

US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he was happy Prince Harry and his family had left the United States and returned to Britain, criticizing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for their treatment of the royal family.

“I am happy about it. I was not a fan”, Trump said in the Oval Office. He singled out Meghan for criticism, saying: “I didn't like the way she acted. I thought she was terribly disrespectful.”

Trump also cited his good relationship with the late Queen Elizabeth II and her successor, King Charles III.

Harry and Meghan returned to Britain with their family in late August after six years in California. The couple had stepped down from official royal duties in 2020 and moved to the United States.

Harry later accused the royal family of neglect, while Meghan told Oprah Winfrey that there had been discussions within the family about how dark their son's skin might be when he was born. Prince William later rejected accusations that the royal family was racist. Harry has also cited media scrutiny and a lack of security as reasons for the move to California.

The couple are expected to remain non-working royals and plan to live outside London for an extended period with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who will attend school in Britain.

“If I were the royal family, I would not have taken them back”, Trump added.
