German Defense Firm Targeted in Suspected Arson

German police are investigating a suspected politically motivated arson attack on a construction site outside the headquarters of Rohde & Schwarz, a Munich-based company specializing in defense and security technologies.

Shortly after midnight, perpetrators reportedly threw incendiary devices from a vehicle near the company’s headquarters in Munich’s Berg am Laim district. One caught fire near construction trailers, causing minor property damage. No one was injured.

Police arrested a 28-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man, both Bulgarian citizens, near the scene. Authorities are investigating whether they were involved. The Bavarian State Criminal Police Office has taken over the investigation because of a possible political motive. Rohde & Schwarz confirmed the incident but said its premises were not affected.

The incident comes amid heightened concern over attacks on German infrastructure. Two days earlier, the government blamed Russia for a failed attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport in August, where an explosives-laden drone was discovered near Ukrainian cargo aircraft. Investigators believe the device failed to detonate.
