UK Summons Russian Diplomat over Leipzig Airport Incident

Britain summoned the Russian chargé d'affaires in London over an attempted drone attack on Leipzig/Halle Airport in July. The move followed the German government's conclusion that Russia was behind the incident.

The British Foreign Office said it stood in full solidarity with Germany and described the attack as reckless. It said the incident was another case in a series of Russian activities aimed at undermining the collective security of European countries and weakening the resolve of Ukraine's allies.

Moscow rejected the accusations, calling them fabricated. The Russian embassy in London said the summons was part of a "coordinated provocation" and that the allegations were unsubstantiated.

The Russian embassy also warned that any further steps by Britain or other European countries aimed at escalation would provoke an "adequate and calibrated response" from Moscow.
