Ukraine and Poland Weigh Joint World Cup Bid

Ukraine and Poland are considering a joint bid to host the World Cup. Ukrainian Minister of Youth and Sports Matvii Bidnyi confirmed his country's interest to Politico, noting that the next available slot is in the 2040s. He said preparations should begin now with this in mind.

The possibility of a joint bid is also under discussion in Poland, Politico reported, citing a source familiar with the Warsaw government's position. No official bid has yet been submitted.

Bidnyi noted that the two countries co-hosted Euro 2012. He believes repeating such a project could also draw the attention of international investors to Ukraine's reconstruction.

Ukrainian MP Vasyl Mokan stated that his parliamentary committee has not yet received official confirmation of the talks. He added that a joint bid could serve as a symbol of European solidarity, though this would require an end to the war, lasting peace and credible long-term security guarantees.
