Kremlin Leaves Door Open to Peaceful Settlement in Ukraine

The Kremlin does not rule out the possibility that the war in Ukraine could move toward a peaceful resolution. According to Moscow, however, there are currently no concrete indications that this will happen. Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that work on a possible settlement and mutual contacts are continuing, according to the Interfax news agency.

When asked whether any new peace initiatives acceptable to Russia had emerged recently or whether there had been a significant breakthrough in the negotiations, he replied that it was premature to discuss this.

Peskov also commended the United States' continued willingness to act as a mediator. According to him, Moscow remains ready to move toward a peaceful resolution of the conflict and the achievement of its goals.

At the same time, he emphasized that Russia's position remains unchanged and is based on the conditions that President Vladimir Putin presented two years ago at the Russian ministry of foreign affairs. According to Peskov, these demands are well known in Kyiv.
