Farage and Bardella Have Signed a Migration Pact
Nigel Farage's Reform UK and the French National Rally (RN) have reached an agreement to take joint action against illegal migration across the English Channel should they come to power.
RN leader Jordan Bardella has promised to tighten France's borders and limit the number of migrants heading to Britain. According to the signed memorandum, people who reach Britain from France on small boats and apply for asylum would be detained by British authorities and returned to France.
They would then be repatriated to their countries of origin. Both countries would also share the costs of border protection. The agreement comes at a time when both parties enjoy strong support in the polls.
In Britain, Reform UK is running close to the governing Labour Party, while in France, Marine Le Pen holds a significant lead ahead of the first round of next year's presidential election.
Since the beginning of the year, more than 16,000 people have arrived in Britain on small boats.
