Thousands March Through London to Protest Abortion Laws

Thousands of people gathered in London on Saturday for the annual March for Life UK, an event calling for stricter abortion laws. Participants also protested against no-go zones around abortion clinics and hospitals, according to EWTN News.

Under current UK rules, abortions may generally be performed up to the 24th week of pregnancy under specified conditions. Fifteen Catholic bishops took part in the march, having previously celebrated Mass at Westminster Cathedral. Organizers and church leaders emphasized the protection of human life from conception to natural death.

At the same time, however, hundreds of pro-choice advocates marched separately through the streets of London. They argued for women's right to make decisions about their own bodies and protested against religious interference in abortion policy.

According to organizers, last year's March for Life attracted approximately 10,000 people. The final number of participants in this year's event has not yet been released.
